THE 59TH NHL DRAFT WAS HELD JULY 23-24 IN NEW JERSEY
A total of 12 students and graduates of Moscow schools were selected in the past draft.
The first Muscovite drafted this year was Prokhor Poltapov of “Dynamo” and CSKA schools - Buffalo Sabres took him 33rd. Daniil Chaika, a CSKA player, was picked second and 38th, his rights were secured by Vegas. The 48th left CSKA alumnus Artyom Grushnikov - he was taken by the Dallas Stars. Forward Nikita Chibrikov, a Dynamo player, was drafted 50th - the Winnipeg Jets have the rights to him. Another “Dynamo” forward, Alexander Kisakov, was selected by Buffalo as number 53. CSKA player Steven Sardarian was also drafted by Buffalo, pick 88. "Florida signed defenseman Vladislav Lukashevich with pick No. 120. CSKA graduate Artem Guriev was picked at No. 135 by San Jose.
